Mobility Legislation
Atlanta, GA
The Georgia Society of CPAs has been working hard to enact the concept of Mobility for our CPA profession through SB 473. As of April 4, the bill has passed both the Senate and House floors. Passing this bill, with some compromises along the way, is a fantastic day for the profession in Georgia.
On May 14 HB 1055, the Mobility bill, was signed by Governor Perdue. The implementation date for the bill is July 1, 2009.
The concept of Mobility has been discussed for the last 18 months nationally and in Georgia, culminating with presentations and break out sessions at the October meeting of the GSCPA Council and a feature article in the November/December issue of Current Accounts. Georgia is part of a national movement to enact Mobility.
The concept of Mobility and accompanying regulatory changes that are needed have been approved by the GSCPA Board of Directors, the GSCPA Council, and the Georgia State Board of Accountancy.
